About Us...

GhostWind Weimaraners is located in Horseshoe Valley, Ontario, Canada. We have been involved with this incredible breed for over 17 years. GhostWind became a registered name with the Canadian Kennel Club in 1995 with the vision to improve health, structure and temperament in this breed. I am a member in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), the Weimaraner Association of Canada (WAC), the Weimaraner Club of America (WCA) and the North American Versitile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA).

History
Being a Registered Veterinary Technician (OAVT member in good standing) has maintained my focus for breeding healthy Weim’s. To back this up we have an extensive health guarantee and provide a lifetime guarantee against hip dysplasia for our puppies. Also our Weimaraners are tested and certified clear from Hip Dysplasis (PennHip testing) and receive OFA clearances for normal heart, eyes, elbows and thyroid.

Temperament is extremely important! We breed to maintain the friendly, fearless, keen intelligence that this breed is known for. All of GhostWind’s puppies are temperament tested at 49 days of age by a qualified independent tester and matched to approved homes. You will be given a copy of your pup’s score and reasons why we think this would be the best pup for you and your family. We also have our ‘puppy play day’ that involves a half-day course going over what to expect and how to prevent training problems, when the pups are 6 weeks old. This has been a HUGE success as everyone has time to digest the information and prepare the home before taking their pup at 8 weeks of age.

The structure/conformation of GhostWind Weimaraners is competitive in the show ring and field. We breed towards the standard in place with the Canadian Kennel Club and compete in the ring with our dogs for approval by our peers (judges) in this breed. In the field our dogs can go, and go and go…. With good depth/width of chest, strong back and a free-flowing gait our guys rarely run out of steam under hunting conditions. We also seek and earn titles with the CKC as well as with NAVHDA. Many Ghostwind Weimaraners have earned their ‘V’ rating confirming the true versatility of our dogs.

Although we breed to improve /maintain the quality of the breed, it is you, as a puppy purchaser who will make the dog. We select only the best for our pups and we make ourselves available to you when questions arise or you run into a training problem. We want all of our pups to become the ‘family members’ they deserve to be.
